Apple today released an update to Boot Camp with support for Microsoft Windows 10, according to a. The update, Boot Camp 6, is still propagating and is not yet available for OS X.
However, several MacRumors have noted the update is available within Windows partitions in Boot Camp, Apple's tool to allow Intel Mac owners to dual boot OS X and Windows. Boot Camp 6 also includes support for several Mac features within Windows 10, including USB 3, USB-C, Thunderbolt, built-in SD and SDXC card slots, built-in or external Apple SuperDrives, and the Apple keyboard, mouse and trackpad. Windows 10 support is only available on select Macs with OS X Yosemite and the latest version of Boot Camp, which will automatically download the support software (drivers) needed to use Windows 10 on a Mac. Boot Camp requires an authentic copy of Windows 10 for a new installation, which can be purchased from Microsoft in an ISO file or USB stick for $119. Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 users can upgrade to Windows 10 for free from within their Windows partition as long as the user's software is completely up to date.
I deleted all partitions from a MacBook Pro and installed Windows 8 on it from a disk, then upgraded to Windows 10. However, after running Windows Update, it still lacks drivers for WiFi, audio, the touchpad, and a few other devices.
I can't seem to find those drivers available for download from any official sources. And all the info I can find about it assumes that I left the BootCamp partition intact (which I did not). To further complicate things, I do not know exactly which model of the MacBook Pro it is. I have found, but not to much use.
It seems they don't like supporting older hardware much with bootcamp. 2011 macbook pros and older should be perfectly capable of running windows 10, not to mention the older Mac Pro's. If you have already installed Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, or Windows 7 on your Mac using Boot Camp, you can set Parallels Desktop to run Windows from the Boot Camp Partition or import Windows and your data from Boot Camp into Parallels Desktop as a new virtual machine.
